Retort Processing

At Thermal Kitchen, we collaborate with both startups and established national brands to develop shelf-stable liquid food and beverage products in flexible spouted packaging. Our diverse range of offerings encompasses everything from broths to preservative-free baby food, all produced using the retort cooking process.

What Is retort processing?

The retort process functions by "cooking" packaged food with precise control over time, temperature, and pressure. At Thermal Kitchen, this procedure entails packaging food or beverages in spouted pouches, sealing them, and exposing them to for a short period to high temperatures for a specified period of time, in a water spray pressurized vessel to eliminate all microbial activity. The outcome is a shelf-stable product with a potential shelf life of up to 18 months.

Our retorts were expertly designed to cook liquid products in spouted pouches with minimal particulates, offering the choice of a choke-proof or toothpaste-style cap to suit your preferences.
